Weaver makes history with 6-0 start for Halos

http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2011_04_25_oakmlb_anamlb_1&mode=recap&c_id=ana

Jered Weaver is only the fourth player in MLB history to start off with six wins and no losses by April 25th.
This is amazing and an incredible start to a 162 game season for the Angels. The humble Weaver says this:
"It is great to have the accolades, but I just want to keep my team in the game, which I did tonight," Weaver said. "The location is a lot better than it has been and everything feels good."

He now leads the league with 6 wins, 49 strikeouts, and an earned run average of less than one run per game. This guy is one impressive stud and a hopeful candidate for the AL Cy Young Award.
Go Halos.

Promoting Legal Immigration

http://www.borderbands.com/

I have not found an unbiased source yet on this SB 1070 topic of immigration. I do not believe there is one out there either. Everything I have read also has some kind of racial superiority comment in the fine lines as well. This law should not be about race or ethnicity and it should only have the best interests of the common people at heart. This website does recognize us all as Americans and how immigration is good and OK but you must do the process right. Maybe we should shorten the process, not by making it easier but by maybe getting more people to work at it. Because I understand that there are some bright minds out there that wish to come to America but our process is so tolling that it is almost impossible to make it to this great land.
I'm proud and thankful to say I'm an American!

Every 15 Minutes...

Every 15 minutes an American is killed in a traffic collision that is caused by someone under the influence of alcohol or some other drug. This week, I had the honor of basically showing my peers what it is really like: to be the victim of the crash. There are not enough words in the English dictionary to begin to explain how selfish and dangerous it is to get behind the wheel of a car and try to drive while buzzed or drunk. This program is extremely moving to me especially when i met the father of a drunk driver who is in a vegetable-like state. I had visited ICU on Wednesday and was introduced to a devastated mother and father of a young man in his late 20's from Pittsburgh. He was an engineer of some kind, had just graduated from college, and started his career out here in California. He and a buddy of his thought it would be fun to go out drinking, and then try to drive home. It was a single-car crash when he wrapped his sedan around a tree going about 60 mph. The friend walked out of the hospital with a minor concussion and a broken arm about three days ago. This son of two destroyed parents has been in ICU for seventeen days now. Imagine what he had put his parents on the 16 hour flight to California and still now. I had asked the nurse that was entertaining me while I waited for the rest of everybody if he was going to make it and she told me that he had less than a 1% chance of becoming a normal human being again because of massive brain damage. Parents should never ever bury their children. Another story involved a drunk dad pulling into his own driveway and running over his three year old daughter. All of this because of an irresponsible choice. The first thing I did after this was all over was run to my father, hug him, and while he held on tightly I told him, "whether you are in LA at Raul's or just up the street at Cousin David's, think of Steph and I before you get in the car because we love you too much for you to lose yourself like that." I had not seen him cry in years.

As depressing as it has been, I learned multiple things this week: you can never be too careful; life is precious; let nothing distract you; and live in the moment; love while you can; and there is ALWAYS a choice. If Life can be ended in the blink of an eye or a heartbeat, why do we insist on fighting, bickering, and hating each other?
There are so very little things you have control over in this world, why not control the things you are able to?
Most people do not realize the life they are given, the people who love them, the potential they hold, and the consequences that await them if they choose to drive under the influence, as well as the lives they could ruin.
MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE!

When a headache really is a brain tumor

http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/04/07/ep.headache.brain.tumor/index.html

From someone who has a migraine at least once a week, this means a lot to me. This mother did great and there is no such thing as paranoia, overspeculating, or being too careful in a situation like this. It is amazing how something so deadly can be covered or masked by something so minor as a small headache. It almost makes me want to go get a CT scan. We have just always figured since I am always running, I always needed to drink more water and stay hydrated to prevent these migraines. But then the doctors said it might be my eyesight that gives the illusion to my brain that I have double vision and therefore I get headaches but I have inherited the common migraines from my mother unfortunately. Usually what happenes if you experience migraines on a daily basis is you have a throbbing pain in the back top half of your head and also right above your ears. Then if you're lucky, you will vomit and fall asleep and eventually wake up feeling just fine. But when you are not this lucky, the throbbing pain will stay with you forever and it feels like you are going to overheat and pass out and just drop there. Nothing medication can really do for you, you kind of just have to tough it out and hope nobody bothers you while because you get extremely cranky while it happens.

France's controversial burqa ban takes effect

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/10/french-police-arrest-burqa-ban-protesters/?hpt=C1

This new law created by the French forbids anyone in the French Republic to wear a whole headdress or body cover. This is very controversial because it is against the muslim's religion but it kind of is understandable because you kind of have to ask yourself, doesn't someone wearing a mask and a trenchcoat scare you a little bit? You are unable to identify them and you cannot see what they are packing under their clothes. This law passed six months ago but takes effect today. It will be extremely interesting to see what happens soon.

Reid, Boehner bicker over cause of budget standoff

http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/04/08/congress.budget/index.html?hpt=T1

"The speaker is the one who came up with the number," Reid insisted. "We didn't invent it."
More finger-pointing continues at our nation's capitol where Republican Speaker of the House John  Boehner and Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are still trying to compromise on the federal budget. The federal government will be shut down by tonight if not reached an impasse. Everything is set, accept the deal on abortion, says both parties. The republicans want to strip federal funding from the free clinics and planned parenthood programs which is totally understandable because it forces people to be more mature and responsible, while the democrats are against this. If you ask me, this should be the least of our worries.
"For us to go backwards because Washington couldn't get its act together is unacceptable," Obama said. At least he realizes this.

59 bodies found in Mexico mass graves

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/americas/04/07/mexico.mass.graves/index.html?iref=allsearch

This is just one of the effects that this war on immigration has resulted in. In the northeastern area of Mexico, eight mass graves were found and within those graves were 59 unidentified bodies.
The incident once again shows the Mexican government's failure to deal with their country's public safety crisis and has a huge impact on how many Mexican immigrants are coming over.
