Man's change began when he couldn't fit in ride with son

http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/03/25/lose.weight.over.100.pounds/index.html

This is an amazing story. I believe living we owe to ourselves a healthy lifestyle to our body, but then again we have one life and sometimes we feel as if it is here to use and abuse. Although I am on ly 139 pounds, I can really say that I do not take very good care of my body in means of what I eat.
This 39-year-old auto insurance underwriter from Illinois lost 115 pounds all because one day at an amusement park he did not fit on one ride with his son: then he was determined. He had the right idea when he told himself how he was not trying to lose weight because he looked ugly, but because it got in the way and he realized how unhealthy he was living for himself and his family. This story touches me because my father does not take care of himself at all. He believes he eats too much but I just tell him it is all of the poison or alcohol he drinks and not enough exercise. John is an incredible cook and eats extremely healthy but then he'll wash it all down with yeast beer which is high in fat content. It is no drinking problem but he does not realize that if he quit or even cut down there would be signifcant wait loss for him. And the more important part is that it is not good for his health one bit!

Woman, 92, Goes Ballistic After Being Denied Kiss

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/florida/woman-92-goes-ballistic-after-being-denied-kiss-874093

In Florida, a 92-year-old woman was so upset after she was denied a kiss form a 53-year-old that she went back to her house and grabbed a loaded gun. She then proceeded to head toward her neighbor's home and fire the weapon rapidly at his residential area multiple times. Maybe the old lady had not had that feeling in a very long time, so she decides to try to kill the man who rejected her.

When she was in her prime, Elizabeth Taylor was hailed the world's most beautiful and desirable woman. She was famed for her looks, lifestyle, endeavors and her many, many marriages. At the age of 79, she had already been in the hospital for six weeks due to congestive heart failure. She was an amazing actress and won two Oscars for separate movies in the 1960s.

Cruise missile strikes Gadhafi compound

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42189217/ns/world_news-mideastn_africa/

Over the past few days, the U.S. and rebel Libyan coalition forces have caused havoc for Gadhafi. On Friday, the USS Barry, an American Destroyer, launched a tamohawk missile which struck one of Gadhafi's strongholds and eliminated the anti-air warfare that he had maintained for so long upon the ground. The U.S. is close to beginning hand control of the situation and will probably begin that shortly. The "long-battle with the West" as Gadhafi had claimed will not be for that long. If we do not get to him quickly, a libyan rebel is sure to assassinate him and he will be killed by his own people. After the bombardment of Libya, people there have reported seeing Libyan government officials staging corpses at the site to look like America has killed the innocent. Sounds like a last resort to me.

Education Discussion Reflection

These days our attitude towards education is horrible an nobody experiences these examples on a day to day basis like the students. We talked about how children do not have the ability to chose what school they would like to attend. Maybe if we let them decide for themselves, teachers will step up their game in order to attract more students to their school, almost like more business. Then bring in the idea of merit pay so teachers are based on the students test scores. This will create some kind of competitive business which is all about human nature and is totally natural. This way, the better teachers attract more eager kids and make more money. No matter where a kid comes from, nobody is unteachable. The most important and quickest way to fix this everlasting problem is to eliminate tenure. Humans are not perfect and tend to abuse freedom or power. Tenure has been abused by many teachers. My mother works at McAuliffe Elementary and they have let go a few teachers because of budget cuts but never ever because of something they did illegally. It is seriously impossible to terminate a teacher at their position. It takes three years at that school for a teacher to reach tenure. That means they have their job for life after those three years. Teachers that are not unionized, like at charter schools, have less restrictions about what they teach. They also have no tenure but the freedom to do whatever they want. Attitude changes are needed for this reform to happen.

Mind Reading: How Our Brains Predispose Us to Believe in God

http://healthland.time.com/2011/03/16/mind-reading-how-our-brains-predispose-us-to-believe-in-god/

This really interests me because of my view on religion. I am a strong Christian and I feel that even though these people who wrote this article are all of a secular ideas, but I can understand where they get their skeptism from.
Some people say there is no way that there is a higher power than man but seriously I feel that is the easy way to look at it because mankind is so flawed that it is ridiculous. So how could we be the highest power?
Many people always and forever search for the "meaning of life" so I think that this idea of serving my faith is my whole meaning of life and I would not know what to tell someone who has no faith.

Japan Quake Causes Nuclear Emergency

http://ecocentric.blogs.time.com/2011/03/11/japan-quake-causes-nuclear-fears/

My father works extremely close with a man who is form southern California and works as some kind of engineer mechanic at our very own San Onofre nuclear power plants. This man told me yesterday that there is a heck of a lot more going on down in Japan than we are being told. Officials do this in order so it will not cause all of this havoc and mayhem around the world. There is without a doubt that more radiation leakage than we are being told. We can only hope that if we are this intelligent to create nuclear power, that we can contain it. Japan uses the Pacific Ocean for its cooling system. They wrap the water around the two fuel rods that are creating the power in order for the cooling process to be in effect. If the transportation pumps of the water is disrupted, the fuel rods might ignite and cause an explosion of fire. Lucky for us in socal, we have the same colling system, with a failsafe. We use the Pacific Ocean as well but we also maintian a resevoir which will cool down the power plant if such ocean pumps were to fail or be destroyed.

Japanese Officials Scramble to Contain Nuclear Power Plant Crisis

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/03/15/japanese-nuclear-panic-rises-agency-says-radiation-leaking-atmosphere/

When it rains it pours. That's what Japan has been thinking. As if a 9.8 magnitude earthquake was not enough to handle, it caused several fires inside a couple of nuclear power plants inland of the island and also created a massive tsunami which destroyed the northern coast of Japan. Not only all of this occurred abruptly, but now the grief-stricken people of Japan have to worry about an estimate of two nuclear power plant leaks and run the risk of radiation poisoning. Scientists say they are using boric acid which attract the lethal radiation in effort to stop what could be an abomination.

Camp is winding down, with great uncertainty

http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110315&content_id=16968462&vkey=news_ana&c_id=ana

With Spring training coming to an end, the Angels are looking a bit sketchy in a few positions: a catcher, a third basemen, and a closing pitcher.
Being a huge fan, I feel  that trying to decide who starts at catcher would be the toughest choice. Mathis and Wilson are two studs at the position and even the upcoming Hank Conger, the triple-A star, all have a shot. I think that we need more infielders especially a true third basemen. We also need to find a good closer to shut games out because we really missed that last season.
